Trans Education and Action
Trans Education and Advocacy(TEA) exists to bring awareness to issues affecting transgender and gender-nonconforming students on campus and to create an environment where all students can express themselves without fear of harassment or discrimination.
We envision a GW where students are not bound by arbitrary and narrow definitions of what "real men" or "proper ladies" must be.
In addition to regular meetings, TEA sponsors "Trans 101" workshops, Trans Day of Remembrance vigils, panels discussions and movie screenings on trans and gender issues and an annual drag ball.
Last year TEA led a successful effort to add "gender identity or expression" to the GW non-discrimination policy and this year TEA is leading a campaign to get gender-neutral housing options for students living on campus.
