LGBT Health

In 2008 Student Health Services created a LGBT Health Services program to better meet the health needs of GWU LGBT students.

The LGBT Health program addresses the special health care needs of LGBT GWU students, and provides health services for LGBT students requesting:

  • General medical care from a member of the LGBT community (or from a LGBT-postive clinican).
  • Immunizations against diseases particularly prevalent in the LGBT population.
  • Sexually transmitted disease counseling and testing by clinicians familiar with the concerns of LGBT individuals. Screening for HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Herpes, and visual screening for HPV.
  • Screenings and referral for mental health issues (related to coming-out, depression, anxiety, relationship issues) affecting members of the LGBT community.

Appointments can be made online or by calling 202-994-6827. The program is located in Student Health Services at 2141 K St NW (Suite 501). Students calling should request a clinician in the LGBT Health Program (Dr. David Reitman, Dr. Isabel Goldenberg, Susan Haney NP or Nancy Freeborne NP).There are no additional fees, beyond standard co-pays and lab work, for students participating in the program.
